Aerial FireFighters Working Group
AAF is forming a small group of members experienced in aerial firefighting to act as a sounding board for new ideas and challenges, and a pro-active advocate for solutions to new and old problems related to Safety, Effectiveness, and Efficiency in our vocation.
We are seeking individuals from diverse backgrounds, including aircrew (SEAT, LAT, VLAT, MAFFS, scoopers, rotary wing, CDS, UAV, Lead Planes, ASM), mechanics, management, agency personnel, ground troops, OEM personnel, and fire chemical personnel who are ready, willing, and able to invest time and energy in researching and reporting issues affecting the future of aerial firefighting. We need input from Canada, USA, EU, Australia, Russia, South America, and South Africa. Members from Japan, China, Thailand, Romania, and other countries developing an aerial firefighting capability are welcome to participate as observers.
We anticipate holding our first meeting on Tuesday, 18 March, at SMF (McClellan, CA), the evening prior to the start of the Tangent Link AFF conference 19-20 March (AAF is a Supporting Organization of the event). There will be email and Skype communication with the core group prior to that.
Tangent link has offered us a slot for a presentation at the conference. They will grant a (limited) number of waived-fee delegate seats for active AAF participants.
